Urban Aeronautics claims to have the flying car that will qunch your thirst for the promises of the future. Will it really happen, or is it just a mirage?
The X-Hawk “is a ‘rotorless’ Vertical-Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. To be more precise, it is an aircraft that has the VTOL capability of a helicopter, but without the exposed rotors that make it dangerous or impossible for helicopters to maneuver in complex urban and natural environments.”
Like most people, I’m sure, I’ve dreamed of a time with flying cars and personal robots in every home. The closest I’ve come to with my budget is a 2004 Honda Civic and a Robosapien V2. When I was young, I thought that these dreams from movies and cartoons would be available (and affordable) at the turn of the century. Older, and more skeptical, I find myself wondering if the UA guys can make the concept really WORK in time to deliver the X-Hawk by 2010. Furthermore, I imagine there’s a LOT of red tape they’ll be stuck behind, and cutting through it could land a launch date well beyond 2010.
Chime in here. Do you think it’s possible, and would you buy one?

I would TOTALLY buy one if it weren’t for the crappy expectations resulting from the Moller Skycar – http://www.moller.com
Those guys have been dangling skycars like a carrot for years now.
