In just a couple weeks, the world is anxiously expecting to have access to Apple’s latest model (or models) from the incredibly popular iPhone line. Each previous iPhone launch has been met with swarms of orders, long lines, and even people camping out for days. When I bought my iPhone 4 three weeks after launch, I still waited four hours in line and some people behind me went home empty handed. There’s no question that the iPhone 5 launch will produce similar results. Despite the vast array of Android devices on the market, the iPhone 5 is poised to sell better than any previous model, and the features will make it happen.

This next-generation iPhone is going to boast the A5 processor, which is what the sleek iPas 2 runs on. The A5 contains a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with NEON SIMD accelerator and a dual core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU. This means you’ll be able to get twice as much done, working twice as fast.
Better iPhone Display
One of the clear differences between my old iPhone 3G S and the iPhone 4 was the gorgeous Retina display. A lot of sources are saying the new iPhone could ship with a 3.7″ to 4″ display and better resolution compared to the iPhone 4’s 3.5″ display. It may not seem like a lot, but it feels like a big difference with the increasing access to TV and movies through apps from providers like Hulu and Netflix.
Increased iPhone Camera Resolution
To keep up with the competition, Apple is expected to increase the camera resolution with up to 8MP images. This isn’t huge, but it’s pretty good for a phone and will be a nice improvement to the already great images the iPhone 4 produces. There was also talk of an Apple patent for 3D camera technology which could make an appearance in an iPhone, although this hasn’t been confirmed.
IOS 5 and iCloud
With Apple’s new iMessage instant messaging service, Twitter integration, tabbed browsing, and more, IOS 5 promises over 200 new features and updates to help you use your iPhone 5 faster and more intuitively. A few of the features I’m looking forward to are the updated notifications system, faster photos with a physical shutter release and wireless sync with iTunes. Surely, many older iPhone models won’t be able to upgrade to IOS 5 and some long-awaited features may even convert Android users.
Clouds are so popular these days. With iCloud, you can access photos, videos and more across all of your IOS devices and it’s integrated naturally throughout IOS 5.
Buying An iPhone 5?
Weather you plan on buying a Vodafone iPhone 5 or one from another network, you’ll want to think ahead. The announcement is expected October 4th and the iPhone 5 will begin selling soon after. Have your time off request form ready to go and set aside some cash in your upgrade budget if you’re going to be an early adopter. Additionally, plan ahead for accessories and budget accordingly. You can also avoid long lines and frustration by ordering online. How ever you order, I’m guessing you’ll likely be a part of record breaking sales for Apple.
