Tweshirt Winner and the Shoemoney Shirt I Won

Posted in Blogging, web by Joe Colburn on the March 4th, 2009

Last week, before I headed out of town, I designed some (I think) pretty cool shirts for fans of Twitter, like myself. I made a post to show off the shirts and give one away to one lucky person for just tweeting about it. I’m pleased to announce that I chose a winner and the shirt she chose below is on its way to her as I type this. Congrats to Baba at Babasfarmlife, who should be wearing this within the week.

Next is the tale of a shirt I won long ago, but never got around to wearing. Here’s the story. Back in September or October, I won a shirt in Shoemoney’s comment contest he had going at Shoemoney.com. I hadn’t realized there was even a contest, but I was happy to win. Each winner got a t-shirt like the one shown below, but they also got entered to win the monthly grand prize. My entry actually counted for a two-month drawing between a Macbook Air and a new Macbook.

If you’re wondering why I didn’t open it until today, I’ll tell you. I found myself a winner in another blog contest, pretty much the same week. This time, it was over at ZacJohnson.com. I landed a Zac Johnson schwag bag with all sorts of ZJ goodness : “Each “ZacJohnson.com/MoneyReign Package” includes a MoneyReign.com Black T-Shirt, Bumper Stickers, Pens, Buttons and maybe something else extra”. I had been waiting to make the post because I was hoping to break open both packages at the same time and post about my lucky week. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Zac, but for some reason, he never got back to me about that prize. I only mention it now in the interest of clarification in regards to my delayed posting. Zac is a long time advertiser and as I said, I respect and admire the guy. In any case, I had forgotten all about both until I found Shoe’s mail to me with the shirt inside and figured better late than never.

On a side, note, while I’m talking about giving, I received an unexpected gift about a week ago from guitar music blog, Dy-Sphoric. Like me, they’re part of the Entrecard community and sent me 1,000 Entrecard credits (a form of pseudo-money used for advertising and purchasing items in the marketplace). The reason mentioned in the transaction note was “Because I like Joe”. I thought that was deserving of a link back and a mention. I’m not saying I’m going to link to any random site that sends me gifts, but buttering people up is a time-honored way to get noticed for sure.
