I’m always interested in SEO and ways to get my sites to rank higher in search engines, and if you have even one site or blog, you should be, too.

This morning, John Chow posted an article about a relatively new site called WebSiteGrader.com. I checked my score and it came out a lousy 55! I fixed a couple problem areas (problems Yahoo has, too, according to this tool) and my score hit 70. I decided to pit the top 10 sites on the Internet (according to Alexa) against each other for the highest grade, and I’m throwing JoeTech.com in to the mix for fun.

Where does your site rank?
The seo comparison showing the failure of some of the top sites raises the concern of getting up to the right search engine optimization strategy. For the major e-commerce oriented sites spending the hefty sums on online advertising are being closely evaluated to keep a track of effective internet marketing campaign. On the contrary, the web sites focusing more on click- throughs than conversion rate seem to be content with email marketing than attempting at some other form of internet network marketing. In either case, being aware of the various marketing options including adsense marketing by Google which is an off-shoot of pay per click advertisement pays off to any marketer.

Dude, readability level 5th grade? Wonder how it measures this. Does it run a random sample of words through a predefined 5th grade dictionary, 6th grade, and so on or something silly like that? Seems kinda odd.
