I suck. Not generally, just at making money from sites with good traffic. I’m an affiliate marketing idiot and I need help. I have several sites that total about 1.8 million page views per month, yet I’m not making cash like this. Clearly, I need some kind of kick start.
Luckily, there’s a cure for what ails me, and that’s Affiliate Summit West in Las Vegas, Feb. 24 through 26. Unfortunately, a guy like me with a mortgage and credit card bills (and almost NO) affiliate income can’t afford the registration. So I’m appealing to the kindness of John Chow, who I’ve been a fan of (and talking about daily to my lovely wife) for months now. I hadn’t planned on John being so kind, but he’s traditionally been a giver, so it makes sense. All John asks is that I write a post about why he should sponsor me to go to Affiliate Summit West, so that’s what this is.

Without rambling any further, here’s the top reasons http://www.johnchow.com/go-to-affiliate-summit-west-on-me/ for Affiliate Summit West:
- - I’m need affiliate schooling
- - I will be the guy paying the most attention during the Super Affiliate Strategies that Work panel that John will be speaking on.
- - $1,449 is out of my budget completely
- - I’m driving distance from Vegas
- - I would finally get to meet John Chow!
- - Even Entrecard wants to see me and John meet
Summit or no summit, I DO have much to learn, so I’ll take any tips anyone feels like sending my way, too.

Nhuong Son and mikster: Thanks. I hope I get it, too. I had a dream the other night that my wife and I were having food with John Chow, but it was in a mall food court, of all places.

Do keep us posted about your rendevzous with JC. It is impossible to believe that 1.8M monthly traffic that don’t give ‘much’ dough? How much is that ‘much’ are you talking about? Don’t be humble now :)

Eddie: Less than my $99/month server bill. I shouldn’t be giving away $100 here and there. Technically, I’m losing money blogging. =)

My 2 sites get 4 million pageviews per month (and got over 5 million in some top months), and still, publicity doesnt make almost any money out of that (about 200 dollars a month)
So its seems that if you go with adsense, project wonderful and such, and according to your numbers, my numbers and other numbers I’ve seen around, you’re expected to make about 50 dollars per million pageviews. Which completely sucks… 1 million pageviews per month worths way more than that!. This might be improved a bit by adding more publicity spaces, but then the pages would get too cluttered with publicity, and the extra income doesnt worth it.
Probably the way to go is to somehow get direct contact with potential advertisers, but then, your site content has to be very well targeted.

mr x:You nailed it. The best method for really making money on your traffic is to contact the advertisers directly. I’m giving PW a month to perform for me and we’ll see what happens. Right now, I am probably spending more than I’m making, with about 500 ads placed on PW. My traffic on this blog is up to around 4,000 visitors per day, and I’m hoping this campaign drives it much higher, but we’ll see.
