The First 5 Minutes of Cloverfield

Posted in Just Cool, video, web by Joe Tech on the December 14th, 2007

When Michelle and I went to see Transformers, I had never heard of this movie. The trailer came up and it was so mysterious. There was no fancy pants actors we recognized, nothing but a glimpse of something destroying the Statue of Liberty and a date: 01.18.08. With just over a month left until it hits theaters, they’ve ramped up the marketing campaign with a (hopefully) viral widget, showing the first 5 minutes of the film.

Webomatica: I'm not a big ST fan, but I'm excited to see this movie. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be too over-hyped.

Cool to see more info coming out about this flick. They have a pretty extensive viral marketing campaign going on. But I'm also interested because a teaser trailer for the new star trek movie will be in front of cloverfield :).

LeBokov: I felt the same. They're doing a good job of keeping it a bit of a mystery still. I think we may get to see just a little more in the next 2 weeks and then we'll have to go see the movie to see the full monster.

I remember seeing this trailer when I watched Transformers. At first I thought it was another Godzilla. Then my friend told me a bit about this movie and it gives me a feeling of Bio Hazard (Resident Evil).

OK.. that is what I thought, then. I don't even have time to get deeply involved in one, then, so I guess I'm safe.

Be careful Joe.

ARGs can become real addictive. I got sucked into a couple of them, "I luv Bees" was probably the most well known. It was a marketing tool for the launch of Halo 2. The game is played online between thousands of users helping each other. Plus it's played IRL. People have to try and find real things and real people. There's no real game board. It really intense.

Be careful Joe.

BadEvan: Now I'm intrigued. I'll have to go Googling after I get back from watching I Am Legend.

For those not in the know....

This movie is part of an ARG, Alternative Reality Game. I can't say anymore than that. Just Google, ARG and enjoy the next level of game play.

Hallo! Look interesting! Ok! put into my 'must' watch list! Have a nice day!
