Tweshirt Winner and the Shoemoney Shirt I Won

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Last week, before I headed out of town, I designed some (I think) pretty cool shirts for fans of Twitter, like myself. I made a post to show off the shirts and give one away to one lucky person for just tweeting about it. I’m pleased to announce that I chose a winner and the shirt she chose below is on its way to her as I type this. Congrats to Baba at Babasfarmlife, who should be wearing this within the week.

Next is the tale of a shirt I won long ago, but never got around to wearing. Here’s the story. Back in September or October, I won a shirt in Shoemoney’s comment contest he had going at Shoemoney.com. I hadn’t realized there was even a contest, but I was happy to win. Each winner got a t-shirt like the one shown below, but they also got entered to win the monthly grand prize. My entry actually counted for a two-month drawing between a Macbook Air and a new Macbook.

If you’re wondering why I didn’t open it until today, I’ll tell you. I found myself a winner in another blog contest, pretty much the same week. This time, it was over at ZacJohnson.com. I landed a Zac Johnson schwag bag with all sorts of ZJ goodness : “Each “ZacJohnson.com/MoneyReign Package” includes a MoneyReign.com Black T-Shirt, Bumper Stickers, Pens, Buttons and maybe something else extra”. I had been waiting to make the post because I was hoping to break open both packages at the same time and post about my lucky week. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Zac, but for some reason, he never got back to me about that prize. I only mention it now in the interest of clarification in regards to my delayed posting. Zac is a long time advertiser and as I said, I respect and admire the guy. In any case, I had forgotten all about both until I found Shoe’s mail to me with the shirt inside and figured better late than never.

On a side, note, while I’m talking about giving, I received an unexpected gift about a week ago from guitar music blog, Dy-Sphoric. Like me, they’re part of the Entrecard community and sent me 1,000 Entrecard credits (a form of pseudo-money used for advertising and purchasing items in the marketplace). The reason mentioned in the transaction note was “Because I like Joe”. I thought that was deserving of a link back and a mention. I’m not saying I’m going to link to any random site that sends me gifts, but buttering people up is a time-honored way to get noticed for sure.

Who Won the Warnlaser Green Laser?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Those of you who have been paying attention know that I posted a review of the green laser that Warnlaser sent me. Then I followed that up with a contest to give away my green laser, and all you had to do was comment, favorite, tweet, or stumble for entries.

WarnLasers laser packaging

There were only a handful of entries, but I still saw some avid participation. It should be noted that there were a lot of comments on various photos, on Flickr, when only comments on the single laser photo counted as entries. So here’s the breakdown of entries:

Comments on either post (12):
Comments on the one Flickr photo (3):
Fav on Flickr photos (2):
Tweeted post (2):
Stumbled post (8):

As always, I headed over to random.org to pick a winner:

RANDOM.ORG - Integer Generator_1225293496241

Our winner is MarixD. Get me your address privately and I’ll send your new laser out.

Don’t worry. If you didn’t win this contest, I’m sure I’ll have another very soon. If you can’t wait, check out some of the other cool contests around the web:

- ShoeMoney is giving away the all new Macbook AND a Macbook AIR, courtesy of MarketLeverage and QuickSprout, respectively. Hurry, though. There’s only a couple days left.

- Kid Tech Guru is celebrating 3 months of blogging with over $400 in prizes

- MiniSpace.com is also giving away a Macbook Air in their design contest, which I will be entering for sure.

There’s tons of contests out there and lots of free stuff to be had, so search the web for them, or just subscribe to my blog and I’ll mention more when I do another contest.

An Awesome Week for JoeTech!

Monday, September 29th, 2008

First of all, this last week was hectic. Not only did I try to keep up and crank out some good posts, but I also had a lot of work to do at the office. This is always the case after coming back from a trip.

So what made the week so awesome?

First, John Chow and I both posted about the contest to win our money that we got from BlogWorld. This weekend, John picked a random winner from over 120 entries. The cash goes to Adam Mlynarcik of Creadiv.com, who boosted his chances by making a post about the contest. Thanks for participating, Adam, and congrats!

I also had my own stroke of luck when I won one of the daily ShoeMoney.com t-shirt prizes in the middle of last week. I had been hoping to score a ShoeMoney shirt at BlogWorld, but didn’t, so I was pretty pleased to have won one. On top of that, there’s a monthly grand prize that I am now entered into with about 1/30 odds of winning, as I understand it. If I win, you can bet you’ll see a post about it, detailing the prize when it comes.

Finally, today I checked in on ZacJohnson.com to see who won the Super Affiliate Caption Contest. I threw in my caption because I thought it was a bit witty, but there were a lot of good ones, so I wasn’t holding my breath. I also just wanted the ZacJohnson.com/MoneyReign Package (includes “a MoneyReign.com Black T-Shirt, Bumper Stickers, Pens, Buttons and maybe something else extra”), which was part of all three top prizes, so I didn’t care that much which I won. As it turns out, I won 3rd place! Go check out the contest and all the funny captions.

I love contests, so this week has been tons of fun for me. I’m also thinking up more contests I can have, too, so stay tuned.

John Chow is Giving Away My Money!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

OK.. Maybe I said he could… Here’s what happened…

ShoeMoney challeneged John Chow to a contest to see who could get the most moneyfrom the Cashinator at the Market Leverage booth. The winner would get all the cash and the loser would have to throw in an additional $100 from his own pocket. In the eleventh hour, Tyler Cruz and Zac Johnson joined in and they decided that they would all jump in together and the losers would give the cash and $100 each from their own pocket to the winner to give away on his blog to a reader.

Tyler won and his prize was the unmanagable stack of cash seen above.

Yesterday, I stopped by the ML booth and was asked if I was going to jump in the Cashinator. Why not? After a short lunch, I haded back and found myself in the shower of money, trying to grab all I could. I came out with a small bundle of bills, and John was getting ready to go in, himself. He said he’d give his away on his site and I told him to throw mine in to the prize pool, too. He also decided to throw in the $28 he got from an earlier cash grab. Added to his $19 and my $20, the total is $67 and it’s easy for you to win.

How to win
Head to John’s blog post and leave a comment for an entry. If you want 5 entries, just blog about this contest and send a trackback and he’ll give you five entries. He said he will draw the winner this Saturday at Dot Com Pho.
