If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you’ve probably noticed by now that I just love to give stuff away. Unfortunately, getting the prizes to the winners seems to be the difficult part, and it’s not for a lack of trying on my part. This seems like the week of contests as I wrap a few things up and try to resolve old contest winners.
I had a winner for this contest, who I emailed and never heard from. I sent a follow-up email today, so we’ll see if I get to mail that out soon.
I had two winners for this contest, but neither responded to my DM tweets to collect, so I’m having a super fast 1-day contest again to give it away.
I held this contest last week and drew a winner who I’ve emailed today.
Finally, a previous contest winner who won a PS3 from a scam artist posing as a sponsor. After some time trying to get the “sponsor” to do anything close to forking over a prize, I went out and bought the prize winner a PS3 system myself. As it turns out, she’s looking to give that prize back out to a charity this summer, as she won’t need it.
It’s been a fun week for prizes, and I’ll have more prizes to give out soon, but I need to actually send some of these out first. Look for more contest announcements here and on Twitter as soon as I send one or two of these out.
This is something I think a lot of my readers might be interested in. Scour Search is having a Scour Commercial contest to come up with the best commercial for their search engine. The winner will not only get $500, but his or her commercial will also be featured on the site, which is great for extra exposure if you’re trying to enhance your web presence. All you have to do to enter the contest is create a digital short commercial staring yourself, family, or friends. Maybe even get the family pets in on the action. Just record it, do any editing needed, and then head to the link above to submit your commercial into the contest. The winning commercial will be featured on the site as well as receive a grand prize of $500. Not bad for a little amount of work, right?
If you haven’t been to Scour before or just haven’t played around enough to feel like you could talk about it in a commercial, then head on over there. It’s simple to search and they have some pretty cool ways to add to the search experience like double-clicking on a word in the search results to add it to your query. You can also comment on search results and rate them, which I thought was a nice touch. On top of all that, you earn points for using the site, which can turn into visa gift cards if you earn enough. So go, earn points, make a commercial, win some money, and don’t forget me when you’re famous.
Two weeks ago, I started a quick and simple contest to win BenSpark’s iPod Shuffle. Last Wednesday, I randomly selected 10 email subscribers from BenSpark.com and JoeTech.com and emailed the winner to collect this iPod Shuffle.
It’s been a week and she hasn’t emailed me back, so moved on to the next email address on the list. I’ve sent the winner a notification, so if it’s you, check your email and reply so I can send this thing out.
See that iPod Shuffle below? It belonged to Drew at BenSpark.com, but not any more.
Last month, when I snooped through Ben Spark’s Big Box of Awesome, I found another MP3 player… that iPod Shuffle. It didn’t work, but Drew said I could give it away to someone if I fixed it. Accepting the challenge, I told him to go ahead and send it out. It got here a week or so ago and I made sure the connections were clean, updated the software, and now it works and it want to go home with one of our readers.
How to enter
This is simple, really. All you have to do for an entry is subscribe to BenSpark.com via email or subscribe to JoeTech.com via email. If you’re already subscribed via email you don’t have to do anything. On Wed., January 14, 2009, I will combine my list of email subscribers with those from BenSpark.com and draw a winner randomly. Remember… If you’re subscribed to both blogs, you get two entries.
