CNN reports this morning:
Hillary Clinton’s passport file was breached in 2007, Secretary of State Rice told Clinton, according to the senator’s office.
Yesterday, it was:
The State Department says security on Barack Obama’s passport file has been breached, campaign officials tell CNN.
McCain will be next
I suspect that by Monday, we’ll learn that Senator John McCain’s Passport file has also been breached. What about everyone else who was running and what about everyone who was not running? Do you think Ashley Dupré and Elliot Spitzer’s passport files haven’t been pulled up by now? We are a creature of curiosity and there’s no doubt in my mind that these things happen constantly. Think about it. Hillary’s breach was in 2007. Surely, it was just now noticed because someone figured they should check on other people who are in the spotlight for any breaches only because Obama’s breach hit the news.
Are DMV, Social Security, and other files safe?
Some may be safer than others, but we are in an age where computing technology is making incredible advances and our government can embrace these advances or ignore them. I really can’t speak to what security checks are in place, but it worries me that high profile people are being compromised in this manner and it goes nearly unnoticed.
I suppose this is where you’re glad you’re not famous. Who do YOU think turn up breached next?
UPDATE: McCain’s file WAS breached. And it seems I beat CNN to the punch with this news (even if I WAS just speculating).
