LOL @ Budgetboy (just saw that response)

Robert: When you have insurance, it's through Assurion, and they provide the replacement phone. It's always a refurb, and they have plenty of 6700s left, so I got that. The upside is I already know I like this phone, so I don't have to worry about acclimating to the new one or it having changed things in a bad way. I'll probably still get a new phone in May.

When you exchanged your broken phone with the insurance plan, did they give you another XV6700 or did they give you the new XV6800? I'm curious because Verizon often gives the newer 'equivalent' phone if they have discontinued the previous model.

Thanks for the tips.

BudgetBoy: Your response threw me. XV8600 is definitely not a budget phone. It's $500 with a new 2 year agreement and while it's a bit smaller and nicer than the previous model (the broken one on my desk here), it doesn't offer much new.

Andy: I looked at the Black Q and it's nice, but I still prefer the phone I have more, when the Q is $300+ from the store.

Ultimately, I've decided to just pay the $50 and get my refurb from the insurance company. In June or July, when my contract is up, I'll use my "new every 2" to buy something nice.

By the way... Now that I've manhandled the Voyager, it's NO iPhone. Not by a long shot.

You should get the new XV6800. It is the update to your current phone. My friend just got his yesterday. It has Windows Mobile 6 and it thinner than the other one.

I have the Q and couldn't be happier with it. I have an exchange server and it synchronizes with it flawlessly. The only thing it doesn't do is allow you to open Word and Excel docs and edit them. You can still view them, just not make any changes. In my opinion, everything else is great about the Q.

[...] Check This Out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerpt: This morning, I dropped my phone from about 3 feet onto carpet. I’ve dropped many a phone before, but this is my first touch screen and I guess it hit at just the right angle this time. What new phone should I get? My phone is insured, … [...]

Geiger: I actually HAD a Q and gave it away here on the site in October. It's certainly an option again because it was a good phone. I haven't looked at the Treos yet, but I will.

The only 2 real options for Verizon is the Treo and Motorola Q unless you go for the same phone you had.
