Last Friday, Digg user loconet posted Why Firefox is Blocked, linking to whyfirefoxisblocked.com and it was dugg up to 5,419 diggs. Monday, someone named jtwyrrpirate posted whyisfirefoxblocked.com hacked = awesome and THAT story got 5,741 diggs. What’s the problem? The URL is wrong. Instead of posting a hack, jtwyrrpirate posted about what he thought was a hack but was really just a typo site put up after all the publicity the original site gained.

As you might guess, the owner of this site, received a staggering amount of traffic to his little landing page, shooting him up the Alexa ranks within 48 hours.

Today’s lesson: If you’re going to make your FIRST post on Digg, at least check it for accuracy.
