Business Cards Arrived and Look Great

Posted in Just Cool by Joe Tech on the February 5th, 2008

I just wanted to make another quick post that many of you might not care about, but I’m kind of excited about.

Last week, I asked for opinions, and some of you added some great thoughts to my business card design. I made a few changes, took some advice on a print shop to try, and ordered my cards. A week and $42 later, I have 1,000 really great looking cards.

Not bad, those cards look just like you…;))

Hey, I added that code for your slot game. I absolutely admire how you seem to have your finger on the pulse of bloggers as well as understand the concepts behind marketing.

Excellent cards man! Very cool. They are catchy and communicate what you do with style. Everything that a business card should do. They are the kind of card that people will actually keep.

That’s a real slick looking EntreCard!

    Erm… I mean Business Card! :D

    Questions:
    1. Did you order them online, or from a local store?
    2. It costs USD 42.00 for x1,000 Business Cards aye?
    3. How is the quality of the card? Smooth? Hard?

    Thanks!

Ohhh, I want my own blog calling cards, too. I’m thinking if I should order from Moo, the Flickr partner, or just get a set of regular-sized cards from a local printer. :p

Simple Mindz: Yeah. I was about to pay $50 for 500 without the UV coating and with a matte back, so this was a great deal for me.

Andy: Thanks for telling me about this. I have a few coming your way.

Teasas Tips: Thanks. Logo Samurai (logosamurai.com) did the logo and Andy (his comment is right above yours) hooked me up with a good printing company. Thanks for the great post about me, too!

Michael: Thanks. I hope people will keep them. I plan to hand out a LOT of cards in a couple weeks at Affiliate Summit West in Vegas.

Max: That might be a partial print. It’s very hard to even tell. Good eye.

Andreas: Nice blog. I subscribed. I guess to get a job as a geek you have to pretty much be a recluse and not go outdoors all through high school. That worked for me.

Christina: I agree on both counts. Thanks.

Deimos Tel`Arin: 1. Online. 2. The company I bought from is, I was told, an “industry secret”, so my lips are sealed. I guess if you search around enough, you can find them. One hint: Chatsworth 3. They’re smooth and a good thickness. They’re everything I could expect in a good card.

Ederic: I think printed cards should be standard business card size. The only exception is if you’re a print designer by trade and want to show how you can do unique things. I spent a few hundred dollars once on 5,000 glossy postcard-sized flyers for one of my sites (music site, so the cards were for the clubs). The form factor of your printed media should match what you plan to do with it. Local printers can be good because you can see (and approve) a printed proof, but a lot of the online shops offer that as well. I wanted mine quickly, so I didn’t go for the printed proof, but you should plan extra time for it and get one to make sure they’ll look good.

I’m interested! I’m waiting to see what kind of miracle my favorite printer can come up with. I loved my cards but I had a few changes in… well… ownership rights so we’ll see. I’ll be sure to share my “boring” news with you too! Then we can pat each other on the back while everybody else just shakes their heads at us! :)

Really cool looking card. Great design job. Do you happen to know what’s the papper thickness? did you do it glossy or matt?

I think if you did it at http://www.dcp-print.com you would have paid less for 300lb papper, which is the thickest and best for business cards.

  20. joe said,

    on February 7th, 2008 at 9:13 am

Thanks, DCP. Since you offered up such a statement, I’m wondering if you’ll accept a challenge. I already have 1,000 cards, but other people need some, too. Here’s my challenge: I’ll send you the exact same files that I sent the other company. Then you print and send me a small run (5, 20, 100, whatever fits your printing scenario best) on that 300lb paper. If your cards are better and you can do THAT quality for under $43, I’ll not only buy 1,000 cards from you, but I’ll write up a review about your services. My card details are here: http://www.joetech.com/images_for_posts/bc_detail.png
