Alexa Eases Its Grip on the Numbers

New Alexa Stats Page

Alexa hasn’t always been the best indicator of traffic, but it’s pretty good for a quick snapshot and it is very handy when I’m looking at another site and want to know how they’re doing. For a long time, the Alexa stats pages have been the same. Not any more. I noticed this morning that Alexa changed the “Reach” to display as a percentage of the world’s web browsing population, which is much better than just guesstimating. Further down the page, they added geographic information. I am liking it so far. It won’t drag me away from Google Analytics, but it’s a step up.

Now I’m just wondering if more is on the way.
