No Windows = No TV

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Sometimes, I just feel cursed with electronics, but then I remember that my last laptop gave me 7 good years and my last television gave me 10 (and continues serving up the morning news in my workout/front room). This week’s adventure is brought to you by Microsoft Windows, a spastic cat, and my failed reliance on the two to not collide in my living room.

No Windows, No TV

If it doesn’t boot, it doesn’t give me TV and it won’t record my favorite shows while I’m working. I could just buy a TiVo, but that’s like admitting defeat. True to my techie nature, I’d much rather curse at it for a week and be able to boast that I don’t NEED TiVo when I have my own setup.

Current stage: It gets through to the Windows XP logo and then just a black screen.

More on this later.

UPDATE: The TV is working again

A Clear Path To Web Traffic With SEO

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

What is SEO? It stands for “Search Engine Optimization” and it means more readers to your blog, more members to your social network or more sales of your product. Allow me to explain in this sponsored post for SEO Edmonton .

The Internet is huge. More often than not, people need help from search engines to find what they’re looking for. Search engines use many factors to determine which sites get to be at the top of the search results, and that top spot is very highly coveted because it usually means a lot of new visitors to your web site. Getting your site to the top requires either existing site popularity or some really good search engine optimization.

Some site owners rely on a learning method and tweak their site over time to enhance it’s search engine results position. Business owners, on the other hand, often turn to professional SEO companies to guarantee optimal results in a fraction of the time. This is where companies like http://www.clearpathseo.com come in. SEO Edmonton , in Edmonton, Canada, offers an array of services for new and existing web sites. Probably one of the most critical of these services is organic search engine optimization. I say this because you can learn from it and it will likely stand the test of time. This is because your site, itself, is optimized to be as attractive as possible to search engines.

Where do you turn when you have plenty of traffic, but your conversion rate is low? SEO Edmonton offers conversion consulting, too. When you have something to sell, conversion is one of the most important things you need to think about because all those visitors don’t mean much for your bottom line if none of them convert.

While the weeks and months following SEO Edmonton ‘s initial services may prove to be fruitful, they offer additional services that go beyond the services mentioned above and help you increase link popularity, pay per click management, and site analytics. Head over and get a free site audit. You might be surprised at how much you can improve your own search engine page rank and results position.

The Police Never Caught Me

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

After seeing a couple examples on Reddit today, I decided to play with some google searches. It’s amazing how many results turn up for some searches.

Google

Here’s some fun ones:

“I’m not qualified to *, but”

“I hope google doesn’t index this”

“I like * as much as the next guy, but”

“I’m not gay , but”

“the police never caught me”

“this is probably illegal, but”

“I’m not a * but I play one on *”

“I’d rather stick my * in a *”

“When I think no one’s looking”

The above were from reddit contributions. The following are my own:

“please delete this post”

“when I saw * I nearly peed”

“I woke up * my clothes were gone”

“the biggest * this side of *”

“I hope * never read this” or “i hope * never reads this”

“cop hit me with a *”

“* hit me in the * with a *”

“made * come out my *”

“george bush is a freaking *”

Fun With Web 4.0

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

There’s a lot of negative energy around “Web 3.0″ and who’s right or wrong about what it will be or should be.

So I decided to have a little fun with it on my lazy Saturday.
