No Global Launch for the Revolution?

Unconfirmed sources are saying that Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata has canned the worldwide launch of the Nintendo Revolution, Go, or whatever its new name is this week. Iwata did say that the Revolution is set to launch, in 2006, but there is no confirmed date. Sorry, Europe. This probably means you are getting the short end of the stick.

Picoflyer - World’s Smallest RC Copter

Sitting next to a 9-volt battery you really get an idea of just how small the Picoflyer is with its 60mm diameter rotors. But besides being amazingly tiny and fully flyable, the Picoflyer also has some innovative design behind it.

Helicopters are inherently unstable by design, which makes them notoriously difficult to fly but the Picoflyer uses a new (and patented) approach to keeping the craft stable during flight. The rotors are arranged in an innovative way so that any small horizontal movement causes them to tilt up, creating an opposite horizontal force stopping the motion immediately. The downside though is that the rotors can’t be pitched forward like on a conventional helicopter, reducing its horizontal speed. Instead the Picoflyer uses a small tail propeller to tilt the entire craft forward, which in turn causes the entire craft to fly forward.

Sadly the Picoflyer was built only as a tech-demo and is not available nor intended for sale at any point.

The Eye Ball R1 - a

The Eye Ball is about the size of a baseball (roughly 3.25 inches), weighs less than one pound and is encased in a rubber and polyurethane housing that enables it to be thrown through windows or doors and bounced off walls. When it lands it can capture video up to 25 metres distance and audio up to five metres and then wirelessly transmits that real info to a handheld device. It has a range of 200 meters so the soldier can stay out of harms way. An omnidirectional lens rotates at 4 rpm and provides a 55-degree horizontal and 41-degree vertical field of view. It doesn’t even need daylight as it also has night vision capability.
